My Valentine’s Date

It’s hard to believe it’s already February and Valentine’s has come and gone.  I hope you all had a good one this year whether it was with your loved one or a friend.  If you were just proposed to then congratulations!  Our VDay was wonderfully low key.  I’m not huge in to the holiday.  I don’t even know if it should really be called a holiday but I’ll keep playing along because I love any excuse to receive chocolates.  Oh, and have a nice night with my hubs.  Todd made us dinner and I made dessert.  I love when we share the duties.  We had grilled filets, sautéed mushrooms and mashed potatoes, yum.  Add a delicious heart brownie and some wine and our dinner was complete.  I also did a little diy decor for the table and lit a few candles to set the mood =).

I actually made Todd a card this year.  Hey we’re trying to budget.  I kid, I kid.  Actually, I signed up for Martha Stewart’s craft newsletter last year and around every holiday I get emails full of great craft ideas and free templates.   This time she had some super cute diy greeting card projects featured.  It reminded me of all the cards and handmade things my brother’s girlfriend makes him for special occasions.  In the whole seven years Todd and I have been together (dating and married) I don’t think I have ever made him anything (maybe a mixed cd).  Shame on me!  So, after three years of married life I decided I would do a cute girlfriend-type-of-thing.  It was by no means as perfect as Martha’s but Todd loved it.  This said, I don’t know how soon Todd will receive another handmade card.  It took me way too long.

Of course, I thought I would share a few pictures.

xoxo,

Molly

Those are my DIY heart doilies that I’m pretty sure my 6 year old niece showed me how to make last year.  It impressed Todd which is all that matters.

I’m No Longer a Mystery

So, I finally put a picture of myself on the “About Me” page up top.   Now you will know who I am when we meet up for a consult or session (or if you see me eyeing that brownie mix at the store).  I truly wasn’t trying to be mysterious but I just didn’t have a good picture of myself.  Which reminds me how much I would love for Todd and I to have some casual pictures taken of us.  We never had a cute engagement session so now I’m thinking anniversary session?  Does anyone need a cute couple to model for a shoot in exchange for some pictures, wink wink?

In other news I am already knocking off those goals on my list. Yay!  I just started on a website and I hope to have it up and running in a few weeks or so. I can’t wait!  One thing on my list that hasn’t budged though is exercising.  It’s so bad but I really struggle going to the gym in the cold and by myself.  It must be done so I might just go right after writing this post.  I’ll let you know how it goes.

If you read the post of Olivia’s bridal portraits you would will recall I didn’t shoot her wedding but I was able to capture a few detail shots.  I thought it was about time that I started sharing!  Here are just a few.

Enjoy and until next time,

Molly

I love the lace and buttons on her Priscilla of Boston dress.

And her classy Stuart Weitzman’s too!

A New Year : Business & Personal Goals

It’s more than a week in to the year 2011 and about time I make some resolutions or rather goals for my business and myself.  I don’t know about you but I sort of dread making “resolutions”.  I feel like I will be made a I’m insufficient or a lier if I don’t do them.  Resolutions are so finite, suppose to be resolved, hence the name, but goals, on the other hand, can be gradual, one can work up to them.  They might not work out and can actually morph in to something else, maybe even bigger and better.  So, I finally wrote mine out and I’m sharing them on my blog to not only hold my self accountable but so I can look back at them this time next year and check each one off the list!

I wish you the best on achieving your goals or resolutions this year and if you feel like sharing them feel free to leave them in the comments box or link to your own blog post.  I would love to read them. =)

Molly

P.S. How cool does this look 1-11-11.  I wonder how many weddings there will be on 11-11-11.

Merry Christmas

I‘m in my hometown and it finally feels like Christmas.  Being around family, Christmas trees, baking, colorful lights, church, and listening to Christmas carols makes it all seem right.

I had a wonderful Christmas Eve.  It started with homemade pumpkin bread made by yours truly and Josh Groban singing the classics, and it ended with Christmas Eve mass followed by delicious Chinese food (weird, I know) and laughing over stories from our childhood and such.  I hope everyone out there has had as wonderful a Christmas Eve and has a Merry Merry Christmas!   ~Molly

Happy Halloween!

So clearly I don’t call myself a blogger…yet.  I haven’t made one post this month and I feel awful about it.  It’s not like there hasn’t been anything going on to talk to you about, it’s actually the exact opposite. I’ve been bouncing around week to week it seems like.

I turned one year older earlier in the month and my family made a big deal of it for me.  They made me feel special even though there is nothing special about 26.  In my mind, all it means is that if rounded I would be thirty (the panic has set in).  Besides my birthday, I’ve been traveling a lot this month. Almost every weekend Todd and I have been gone.  We went to South Texas for his mom’s old church reunion.  It was so much fun getting to meet more of Todd’s extended family and the church his parents were married in.  Another weekend I headed “home” to clean out my old room.  I didn’t realize that I take on hoarding tendencies sometimes.  Woops.  Goodbye 5th grade art work and physical chemistry notes.  A red inked 100 or A+ is hard to get rid of okay.  Of course I didn’t save the not-so-good grades.

In between the weekends I’ve been trying to balance my day job with my new budding business.  I’ve been brainstorming marketing ideas that are little or no money (if you have any ideas please leave them in the comment box).  Also, I’ve been working on my first wedding album.  To be totally honest I’m just a little overwhelmed.  I am learning InDesign and decided to go with Forbeyon for my albums.  I love that they are local (made right in the big D) and have so many options for cover design and sizes.

Well I might have left out a few tidbits here and there but who really wants to know that I cleaned 5 loads of laundry in one day and haven’t worked out in a month.  I promise I’ll get better at blogging if you can hang in there with me.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Molly

Here are a few snap shots using my Canon point-and-shoot.  They aren’t as quality but like Chase Jarvis says, “The best camera is the one that’s with you” or something like that.

We make an odd couple.  Todd was suppose to be Batman, but he had some costume malfunctions and went as G.I. Joe at the last minute.

Todd’s grandfather helped build this church 60 years ago.

A gorgeous country sunset.
